About Bernard Bouwman

Dr. Bernard Bouwman studied History, Philosophy and International Relations at the universities of Utrecht, Paris and Washington. He then moved on to the University of Oxford, where he was awarded his Ph.D. Dr. Bouwman has lived in Istanbul for many years.

He worked there as Turkey correspondent for NRC Handelsblad, a Dutch quality newspaper, and state broadcaster NOS. Dr. Bouwman had his own radio show in Istanbul.

Bernard has published many books on Turkey, his book on Istanbul is available in Turkish. Dr. Bouwman knows Turkey very well and is an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker.

Having lived in many countries, Bernard is quite aware of the importance of cultural differences and knows that companies should deal with these differences on the workfloor.

Having been a journalist for so many years, Dr. Bouwman knows exactly how journalists need to be approached and can train company executives to deal with the media.
