Daarmee parkeren we alles wat er in het verleden is gebeurd en gaan we optimistisch vooruit.<\/p>\n<p>Maar, wanneer gebeurtenissen uit het verleden niet goed worden afgesloten, slepen teams dit als ballast mee, als een rugzak vol stenen. Dat kost energie, de veerkracht van een team neemt af en dat vertraagt de vooruitgang.<\/p>\n<p>Veel teamleiders aarzelen om aandacht te geven aan deze gebeurtenissen vanuit de gedachte \u2018Wat je aandacht geeft, groeit\u2019. De angst leeft dat het team blijft hangen in het verleden en de problemen daardoor groter worden. Maar in werkelijkheid geldt vaak het omgekeerde: \u2018Wat je negeert, verergert.\u2019 Door zaken niet te benoemen blijven mensen met \u00e9\u00e9n been in het verleden staan.<\/p>\n<p>Hoe je dat herkent? Stroperige besluitvorming, eilandjes denken of een verzuim dat jaar op jaar blijft oplopen. We hebben dat al bijna geaccepteerd als onderdeel van \u2018de cultuur\u2019, maar in werkelijkheid zijn het signalen van een lage veerkracht en een te grote ballast die wordt meegetild.<\/p>\n<p>Onderzoek laat ook nog zien: hoe langer er onverwerkte gebeurtenissen zijn, hoe langer het herstel duurt. Vroeg handelen is cruciaal om als team echt vooruit te komen.<\/p>\n<p>Zodra een team de ruimte krijgt om deze zaken bespreekbaar te maken, gebeurt er vaak iets bijzonders: mensen pakken eigenaarschap, delen inzichten en zetten stappen om herhaling te voorkomen. Teams herstellen \u00e9n worden juist sterker. Door de ballast los te laten groeit zowel de veerkracht als de snelheid.
