Arend Jan Boekestijn was born in Amstelveen in The Netherlands. He has an MA in political science and history. From 1986-1989 he was research assistant European University Institute in Florence. From 1989 onwards he is assistant-professor history at Utrecht University. From 2006-2009 he was a member of Parliament for the VVD.<\/p>\n
Boekestijn has published extensively on the history of the European States System and European Integration. He is also a successful podcast maker. Boekestijn and De Wijk has 100.000 daily listeners. Europa Draait Door 65.000 weekly listeners. In 2022 he was awarded the BNR Podcast Award. Boekestijn is a member of the Peace and Security Committtee of the Dutch Advisory Council for International Questions (AIV).<\/p>\n
