Diego Valero is one of the most important experts in Spain regarding issues related to social security and pension systems. He has a PhD in Economics and in Actuarial Science and has a Diploma in High Management Companies at the IESE.<\/p>\n
Diego is a teacher at the Universitat de Barcelona, where he teaches subjects like actuarial statistics and social security economy. Alongside his teachings, he has also led the Master of Social Foresight at this university and was also the Honor President of the 2008 promotion of the MBA. This was not enough for Diego, he too was the Executive MBA at ICADE.<\/p>\n
Besides his career as a teacher, Diego Valero holds a huge background inside the business world. He is the co-founder and president of Novaster, a consultant firm specialized in pensions, leader in Spain and Latin America. They offer counselling about social security issues and also about investments and risks. Furthermore, he has been Executive Vicepresident of the Pension Fund Administration Camino in the Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n
Carlos Valero is member of several advice and editorial councils. For 10 years he was the President of OCOPEN -Organizaci\u00f3n de Consultores de Pensiones de Espa\u00f1a (Pension Consulting Organisation in Spain) and he is member of the board of directors in Spainsif \u2013 the Spanish Forum for Social Responsibility. He is also Vicepresident of the Fundaci\u00f3n Pacto Generacional, dedicated to promoting the social transmission of knowledge from elderly persons towards younger generations, encouraging \u201csocial feedback\u201d.<\/p>\n
Nowadays he is developing an intense task to promote social responsible investment in the field of pensions. He is a consultant in several companies and also adviser in financial organisations. In Latin America he has led remodeling law projects on pensions. He is consultant for the OCDE and the BID (Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo).<\/p>\n
He is the author of several books and numerous articles. He has taken part in the Comisi\u00f3n Parlamentaria del Pacto de Toledo several times (this comission is in charge of remodeling the Spanish pensions system). He also has translated Peter Diamond (Economy Nobel Prize in 2010) and Nicolas Barr\u2019s book Pension Reform: A Short Guide, into Spanish.<\/p>\n
Diego Valero has a broad experience as a speaker having been a lecturer in seminars around the world and collaborating regularly with different radio and television programmes.
