Brian Farley’s journey, from baseball diamond to boardroom, is one of the most compelling stories in leadership development today. American-born and Dutch-adopted, Brian has called The Netherlands home for over 30 years, building a career that spans elite sport, international sales, and executive coaching.
As a coach for the Dutch National Baseball Team since 2000, Brian guided the team through two Olympic campaigns — Sydney and Beijing — before achieving the defining moment of his sporting career: leading the Netherlands to the 2011 Baseball World Championship, the first time a European team had ever claimed the title. The achievement earned him a Royal Knighthood and the Coach of the Year award at the 2011–2012 Sportsgala.
Farley is known as a passionate team coach whose commitment to planning and execution and results is second to none. He is an inspirational speaker and gets to the core of what makes people and teams successful. Before dedicating himself fully to coaching, Brian spent years as a Regional Sales Manager for Diageo across Europe, working on iconic brands including Guinness and Red Stripe. That experience gave him something rare: a genuine fluency in both the language of elite sport and the realities of business performance.
Today, Brian works with leaders and organizations to build high-performing teams grounded in trust, accountability, and psychological safety. His keynotes and leadership development programs — delivered for organizations including Vattenfall, Rivas Zorggroep, and Nictiz — draw on decades of experience at the highest levels of sport and business. Core themes include authentic leadership, resilience, performing under pressure, and the role of ego in leadership.
Known for his engaging storytelling and practical insights, Brian combines lessons from elite sport with real-world leadership challenges. His presentations inspire leaders to build trust, embrace difficult conversations, and create the conditions where both people and performance can flourish.
